The lights are on
After selling 1 million units through to customers at the November 15, 2013, North American PlayStation 4 launch, Sony has hit another milestone. The European and Latin American rollout has pushed sales past the 2.1 million mark. The PlayStation 4 is now available in 32 countries, with a Japanese release slated for February 22, 2014. Consoles are in short supply right now, but Sony's Andrew House told Game Informer last month that he expects the company will be supplying throughout the holidays. Our TakeIf Sony manages to keep supply flowing through the holidays, not only will the numbers continue to rise as fast as units hit shelves, but Sony will keep families happy. There are few things as frustrating as camping out a store day after day just hoping for new supply to arrive.
this truly warms my heart, knowing that consoles are generating a healthy return to their company and stock holders insures a bright gaming future for all of us! congrats Sony! and double congrats because its not easy to start in the hole (last generation) and be able to climb out of it! Super CONGRATULATIONS!!
I was barely able to get one. It was sold out everywhere and couldn't make it to the Black Friday line in time. Then I found it online at Gamestop in a bundle. So thanks, GameInformer/Stop!
This PlayStation 4 Sale maybe low money think price see maybe like try ps4.
That's it pack your stuff everyone. Sony won
Killing it!
It annoys me how sites spin these articles to cause a flame war. Sony selling 2.1 million consoles is very impressive and congrats to Sony! They learned a lot over last gen while MS is being a little cocky and assuming they will dominate again and have Sony play catch up. However with that aside people need to realize if MS had 2.1 million consoles on shelves to sell they would sell them. You cant sell what you dont have. PS4 is a lot easier to manufacture than the X1. and then people go on about "MS sold 1 million in 13 while sony sold 1 million in just NA so sony won! MS took 13 countries to sell what Sony did in 1!!!" Hmm are you an idiot? Not trying to be rude but lets be realistic here. Facts, Sony had a million consoles to sell at launch they sold them all in NA. MS had a million consoles to sell at their launch and chose to SPREAD that million out. They have 2 very different business strategies going on. If you honestly think MS wouldnt have sold 1 million in NA alone within the same time frame you're a complete moron. The only way this would be a fair comparison of sales stats if BOTH consoles had the SAME amount available in EACH country for the SAME AMOUNT of time. Do I think Sony would still sell more honestly yes. Now if it was just North America Im not sure. But please dont be stupid and not understand the numbers. and if im being stupid and missing something im sure you wont be afraid to tell me and call me a fan boy even though youre wrong as I said Sony would probably sell more. But not like how it is .
Yay for Sony! Once again, the Playstation is killing it all over the world, whereas Microsoft is only putting up a close fight here in North America. Even then, glad to see Playstation back on top for the time being. Very glad.
I mean, Microsoft is a poor first party and annoying as heck with their advertising. For everything. Surface Tablets, Bing, Windows Phones - no one cares about these things, they're all distant competitors to the leaders in their respective sectors (iPad, Google, etc.), but the ads are all over the TV. Ditto for the Xbone, though, of course, their gaming machine (for whatever reason) actually has it's fans and does quite well. I don't get why...
Microsoft is basically just a Halo/Gears/Forza factory, and has abandoned everything else they ever published. Sure, they claim to want to do things differently this coming generation, but they won't, because they said that before with the 360 and look how great that turned out for them - all those Crackdown sequels, Kameo 2, Lost Odyssey 3, they were all amazing! Oh wait, nope... that's not the word. "Non-existent"; that's what I was thinking! :P
They should NEVER be ahead of Sony in this race, unless they actually pull a 180 and start supporting promising franchises. It was annoying that they were the no.1 here in the US for the past couple years... you know, when you ignore the Wii. Because, let's face it, games didn't sell well on that platform. All the octogenarians addicted to Wii Bowling REALLY skewed that install base.
Sony deserves this success. Way to go! :) Here's hoping you keep it up! With exclusives like Infamous 3, Final Fantasy XIV and DriveClub coming up early next year, I'm sure it'll be easy. But while Sony's ahead, it's good that both are healthy. The industry needed a pick-me-up since the Wii U isn't causing much excitement at retail...
Congratulations Sony. Hope you guys keep dishing the systems out and continue in your success.
Always good to hear it's selling so well.
Having an awesome time with mine. I got so scared yesterday when my screen froze and the only way to power the system off was to unplug the ac cord, then I got the pulsating lights. It ended up working but it had me worried thats for sure.
I love the PS4, I was with xbox for about ten years and when this console came out I jumped on the PS4 train without hesitation. Gaming reminds me of when I was a PC gamer. Awesome Job!
