The lights are on
Yesterday, a YouTube channel called GameTuts posted a video on how to access the developer settings on your Xbox One. It's a neat trick, but you shouldn't do it, especially if you don't know what you're doing.
Our TakeGiven that some of the retail functions of the Xbox One, like cable surround sound, are still in Beta, it's best not to mess around with this stuff. If you really want to become an Xbox One developer, the ID@Xbox program is your best bet. Microsoft is typically very aggressive with piracy, and it no doubt is watching what users do with access to this menu.
Not sure if this is good or bad?
This is tempting... But from what I've heard if you press the wrong button you could end up with a bricked console.
ok that is waaaaaaaaaayyyy more hackable than the last xbox
Ummm. Who gives a s***? If you're a dev, sure - it matters to you, but if you're a dev you probably already know about this.
Let the custom dashboard installs begin, I guess.
"Microsoft is typically very aggressive with piracy, and it no doubt is watching what users do with access to this menu." Really? I would have never guessed.
I'm curious what the limitations are. No doubt, Microsoft wants non-indie developers (and some indies) to shell out far bigger bucks for actual fully-functional, fully-open dev kits to do large or even mid-scale game development.
I would definitely hold off on this until the actual unlock is available next year.
Kinect: "Hack my Xbox"
...and microsoft will pull an update to this...in the near future I guess...
Sadly there will be a bunch of morons that dont know what theyre doing messing their systems up attempting this.
Well I honestly don't know what to say about this. It's neat since the devkit will be right there in front of you already, but at the same time it really opens the door to hackers
Test discs left in systems, and now this? Yeah, congratulations on your launch, Microsoft. Maybe next time you'll make sure everything is properly handled BEFORE letting it out the door.
