YouTube App Now Available On 3DS

by Kyle Hilliard on Dec 01, 2013 at 06:36 AM

You're probably at no shortage of outlets to watch YouTube videos, but in case you want or need another, you can now download the YouTube app for the 3DS.

Teased in a recent Nintendo Direct, you can now download the YouTube app from the 3DS eShop. The app is free, and as advertised, it allows you watch YouTube videos from the popular video site, but on your 3DS.

Our Take
A dedicated YouTube app is not particularly groundbreaking, but it is exciting to see the 3DS move closer and closer towards being a fully connected, smartphone competing Internet device. The handheld has had web browsing for quite some time, but getting dedicated web applications is a step forward. I'm particularly excited for the 3DS' upcoming Miiverse implementation.
