World Of Warcraft Movie Delayed To 2016

by Kyle Hilliard on Nov 27, 2013 at 12:00 PM

A number of new details surfaced recently for the upcoming World of Warcraft movie, including a release date. Unfortunately, that date has changed.

Originally set for December 18, 2015, the World of Warcraft movie will now be releasing on March 11, 2016.

The film hasn't begun shooting yet, but pre-production has been in full swing for quite some time. Duncan Jones, director of the films Moon and Source Code, is directing the film. He and others involved in the project held a panel at Blizzcon where they shared concept art for the movie, as well as some basic plot details. The film will cover the origin story of the human and orc conflict. You can read more about that here.

Our Take
I'm optimistic for the World of Warcraft film, mostly because I am a fan of Duncan Jones. He is a talented film maker who appears to know exactly the kind of film he'd like to make, as evident in the Blizzcon panel. The film was so far out already that this delay doesn't sting too much.
