The lights are on
Every family has different traditions for the holidays. At my grandmother’s house, where I’ve spent 32 of my 34 Thanksgivings, the television is usually on in the family room (my grandfather loved football), the kids are typically playing on the floor, and my Dad is helping serve the meal.
Except for a couple of years, we’ve never really gathered around the television to play games. In fact, Wii Sports was one of the only titles able to coax the non-gamers to join us.
With the popularity and accessibility of the Wii and Wii U, there is more opportunity to gather the family. Have you managed to introduce video games to the holiday festivities? If so, what to you like to play?
My dad hates games, my mother think gaming is a waste of time, my sister don't really gaming while my brother gaming a little.
My wife don't really care, so I am the one and the only one game seriously in my family..
We'll be playing some GTA V, Geometry Wars 2, Assassin's Creed 4, Far Cry 3 & maybe some Borderlands 2 together in between watching football & hanging out all together.
Sometimes, but usually not.
Wii Sports makes its annual appearance when we get all the kids together. Everyone from grandpa to our 3 year old enjoys it. Once the kids are in bed, we get down to the serious gaming with just a few of us playing split screen or laptop LAN. This year will likely feature BF4 (if it actually works), and hopefully some Dota 2.
No, we stuff ourselves silly and watch football teams we care nothing about, then we usually fall asleep in a 'turkey induced' haze.
nope , just me and my mother this yr ( like many in the past) , and she doesn't care for games much ( altho she did like cooking momma , animal crossing and harvest moon for wii)
It depends. Mostly, it'll be my son and me playing some games together (if he behaved himself in school this week), and my girlfriend and I later playing CoD:Ghosts online on the Wii U.
We want to but my dad is making work on our house, it has a lot of pros working (we will each get a room) but the games...
I used to play Super Mario Bros. or Tecmo Super Bowl with my cousins, but haven't really played games with my family in a long time. The main event of the day other than dinner is the Packers game.
Nope no gaming at my parents house unless its board games or card games. My parents do play games on the computer but I hardly think casino games are considered video games actually they might be. The night before Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving night hubby and I have our gaming marathons but on Turkey day we are at my parents house and we don't game there at all. Even though we have handhelds to game with we keep them at home so I will def say no to the gaming on the holiday itself. We sit around talk and eat not only the dinner but all of the other stuff like the Pies and other stuff she puts on the table. Have Happy Thanksgiving GI and everyone:)
My mother hates video games…she ended up taking my xbox and smashing it against the wall until all that was left were a bunch of different pieces that looked like they oct belonged to an entire xbox
I was hoping on playing Killer Instinct with my cousins this thanksgiving but I missed out on getting an Xbox one. I got hyped a day late, now I have to wait till black Friday to get one.
I don't live near my extended family, but I will be with my immediate family this Thanksgiving. However, they lack willingness to play games, so I will most likely be gaming alone or with my Guild.
When I was younger and I lived with my parents, Thanksgiving was the best time for gaming. My brothers, my cousin and I would start early, eat food, and get right back to it. We were lucky if we got to set it up on the big tv in the living room. My parents and my aunt would ask all kinds of 'patent' questions like "why is that dog flying a space ship?" or "you guys are shooting at each other?!" Lol! Parents...
Nope. My dad can't even manage to switch inputs between TV & DVD without having to call me for tech support. The man built & wired the entire family room & kitchen, but can't manage basic TV functions...
