Atlus Announces Slate Of Titles For Japan, Including Persona 5

by Mike Futter on Nov 24, 2013 at 02:20 AM

While we were sleeping here in the United States, Atlus fulfilled the wishes of many RPG fans. Persona 5 is coming in Winter 2014.

Along with Persona 5, Atlus has announced a number of titles in that branch of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise. Persona Q will be coming to 3DS, complete with chibi versions of familiar characters from Persona 3 and Persona 4. According to Gematsu’s translation, players will choose to join either Persona 3’s SEES team or Persona 4’s Investigation team with different content presented.

Next is Persona 4: Dancing All Night for PlayStation Vita. This explains why Teddie appeared in the teaser. It also stars Rise Kujikawa from Persona 4 in her own “music action” game.

The title features music from composer Shoji Meguru. Yu Narukami, the protagonist of Persona 4 also makes an appearance. Of course, this wouldn’t be a Persona title without a story filled with intrigue and supernatural phenomena. It’s coming to Japan in fall 2014.

Finally, Persona 4 Arena 2 (otherwise known as Persona 4 Arena: Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold) will be making its way to PlayStation 3 next year. New characters include Yukari Takeba and Junpei Iori from Persona 3.

We reached out to Atlus to inquire about whether any of these titles would be making their way to our shores (and if so, when). Unfortunately, a representative told us by phone that there was no news at this time about North American releases.

Our Take
Fans have hoped for so long that Atlus would announce a new Persona game for home consoles. Not only has hope been given that we'll be playing Persona 5 here in the United States, but we've also got three more titles that could be coming our way. We're remaining hopeful that Atlus USA will continue its track record of localizing Shin Megami Tensei games.
