EA Apologizes For Rough Battlefield 4 Launch With Double XP, Unique Scope

Battlefield 4 has had rough start, suffering from crashes, server problems, and the inoperability of the Conquest mode on PlayStation 4. EA and DICE have announced a couple of measures that will hopefully smooth things over with fans.

“Resolving the launch issues is our #1 priority,” writes DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson. “In fact, we are so serious that we have the entire team working to stabilize the game and we will not move on to other projects until we are sure that Battlefield 4 meets – and exceeds – your expectations. It is the right thing to do.”

Starting on November 28 and running through December 5, players will receive double experience points in multiplayer matches. Additionally, any player that logs in on December 5 will receive an M1911 3x scope that was previously reserved for members of the development team.

For those playing on PlayStation 4, there is good news. A hotfix has been deployed that fixes three common causes of the software crashing. A full update is planned for the week of November 25, 2013. For more, visit the Battlefield blog for details on the different versions.

Our Take
I’ve wanted to give Battlefield 4 a try on PlayStation 4, but every time I attempted to play, I was met with crashes and server errors. Here’s hoping that the most recent fix has made it such that the game is consistently playable.
