Major League Gaming Opens MLG.tv Streaming Platform

by Mike Futter on Nov 18, 2013 at 02:35 PM

Major League Gaming is taking the next step in providing curated eSports content. The league today launched MLG.tv, which will host exclusive content along with existing programming like eSports Report.

MLG.tv uses a proprietary video player, and according to the league, the service leverages years of experience using other platforms. MLG has also opened the platform up to pro team OpTic Gaming and Gfinity, a European league. Additionally, MLG will be exclusively streaming the first Call of Duty: Ghosts tournament and international Dota 2 event on November 22 through 24.

Our Take
I spent a little bit of time on MLG.tv tonight, I was impressed with the player. I was able to dial the stream up to 1080p easily, and the audio seemed consistent. I have no doubt that the service is going to see huge traffic this weekend during the MLG Championship.
