The lights are on
We really can’t explain this one. Since the dawn of the CD era, jewel cases have always been the same. The insert goes on the left. The disc goes on the right. Not anymore.
For some reason, at least one Xbox One case has switched things around. When you open the case, the disc is on the left.
Reader Ken McKown sent us this picture as proof, and we've seen others just like for different titles, like Call of Duty: Ghosts. What do you think? Is this an insignificant change that you can roll with, or does this throw your entire world view into upheaval?
Our TakeInserts are far less important than they used to be. The printed video game manual is all but extinct. Perhaps moving the disc to the other side is a way to subtly communicate the importance of the media. Or maybe it’s just change for the sake of change.
Hahaha, troll Microsoft. "Gamers bitched about all of our policies so we had to backpedal, but we'll be damned if we're putting that disc on the right side!"
This is the point where the system needs to come pit; CLEARLY we've run out of things to over analyze and obsess over. Just one more week, people!
That would confuse me so badly.
booooooo! I don't like change!
I don't know what my life means anymore! Jk but that is a little odd.
GAME CHANGER!!!!!!! ....Lol
I've seen cases that have the disk on that side before.
Ya, IGN broke this "news" on Monday. SMH Gameinformer
I still miss the blank manual page with "Notes" at the top. Never used it because I hate marking up my manuals, but I still miss not seeing it. Bring back please?
I know this is trivial but having them flipped would drive me bonkers. absolutely.
I would just have to open the cases upside down.
The Xbox One just died to me. I am a very small man, and this is a line I will not cross.
*Silently weeps*
I think it's silly, but I don't care very much as I don't keep my games in their original cases anymore. I still don't see the point of the change though. It seems counterintuitive since game cases used to open like a book, with the first page (disk) being on the right side, so now it'll just feel weird. Confusing analogy I guess, but I'm having trouble thinking of a better one at the moment.
Is it April 1st?
Have we officially run out of things to write about? The disk is on the side I open it on. I don't think anyone is changing anything it was just packed wrong. If you play the disk backwards it says, "stop reading gameinformer on the web".
Is this Microsoft teaching us a lesson for complainign about DRM? If we can install the games and play without a disk would this still be a story? Will this cause massive confusion with some gamers? (MOM WHERE's MY DISK?!!!!! Aw honey, it's right there on the other side of the case. Phew!!!! Thank you mom.) Are dislexic people thrilled about this?
Have a great weekend with your PS4's. Looking forward to my Xbone next weekend, and my Xbox One. No more segregation. Gamers are gamers. We get enough abuse from non-gamers that we need to end the infighting.
<drops the mic and leaves the stage>
Another 180?
MAKE A PETITION! KICKSTARTER IT! RIGHT IS RIGHT, LEFT IS WRONG WE WILL NOT STAND BY THIS OUTRAGE!
Seriously who cares, this is just like you said change for the sake.
