Nintendo's eShop Deals Launch With Zelda Discounts

by Jeff Cork on Nov 14, 2013 at 03:48 AM

The holiday season is synonymous with deals and discounts, and Nintendo's eShop is getting in on the action now, too. From now through December, select games will be on sale for at least 30-percent off on 3DS and Wii U. The first round includes a wave of old-school Legend of Zelda adventures.

Nintendo is basing each deal on one of its characters. The inaugural one is all about Link. Subsequent deals will be revealed each Thursday. Check out the first wave below, with the prices listed before and after the sale.

Nintendo 3DS

  • The Legend of Zelda, usually priced at $4.99/$3.49
  • The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX $5.99/$3.99
  • Zelda II: The Adventure of Link $4.99/$3.49

Wii U

  • The Legend of Zelda $4.99/$3.49
  • Zelda II: The Adventure of Link $4.99/$3.49

Our Take
Sales are always good, and this one's even better if it gets more people to play Link's Awakening.  Any guesses as to what other characters will be featured in upcoming sales? It's Nintendo, so it shouldn't be too tough. Mario, Samus, and Kirby are all pretty safe bets. In an alternate universe, Chibi-Robo would be on the list, too, after receiving several excellent sequels to his underrated GameCube debut. Oh well.
