PlayStation 4 Unboxing Video Appears In The Wild

by Kyle Hilliard on Nov 10, 2013 at 11:45 AM

Francis is an Internet and YouTube persona famous for his videos where he rages against the video game industry and nerd culture. He is among the first to unbox a PlayStation 4 on camera for the Internet's entertainment.

There's not much to the video, as he does little to actually show off the system, but it's definitely a PlayStation 4 in its ultimate retail form. Sony's Shuhei Yoshida even tweeted out the video to all of his followers. Next week, there will be thousands of videos just like this one.

Francis is one of a few characters performed by YouTube user boogie2988.

Our Take
This is an odd way to begin the flood of coverage for PlayStation 4. Sony will be unleashing a lot of new PlayStation 4 information (and the console itself) this coming week, and it all begins with a strange YouTube video of Francis ripping a box open and yelling, "Oh my god!" laughing maniacally, and throwing an Xbox 360 behind his couch. Who would have thought that this would be how the next generation would begin.
