The lights are on
Today Square Enix issued a revised financial forecast for the six-month period ending September 30 thanks to streamlined operations and better than anticipated sales for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. Square also cited increased sales of arcade machines and better sales of some unnamed titles in North America.
However, Square stopped short of revising its year-end forecast due to "uncertainties in the second half of the fiscal year."
While this slight bump in forecasts is a small positive for a company that has faced a challenging year, Final Fantasy XIV still has a long way to go before becoming a profitable venture. Remember, this game was alluded to for the first time in 2005, and Square blamed the first version of the game for a 92-percent drop in its earnings forecast back in 2010. Given the positive reaction the rebooted game has received even by players who hated the first iteration, here's hoping it can continue the positive trend and recoup some of the massive investment.

Well, there's some good news for Square-Enix at least.
HOORAH! SQUARE IS BACK!
while i refuse to pay the monthly fee now vs when i was excited about my inital pre-order 3 years ago i'm hapy that its going good for them and those that play now , i played the original version at its horrible launch , and then 1 year almost after the fact and they had definately made impovements so i can't even think about how much better it must be now , but sadly i have no time for mmos these days to warrant a monthly fee
This is the first mmo I've played, and I love every second of it. I think it's worth the monthly sub. I like pretty much all FF titles to varying degrees, but tactics was my all time favorite. That said I haven't enjoyed a FF title this much since tactics.
Love this game. It's become my favorite MMO
I like to get this game. Yet the Monthly Sub Fee thing turns me off. Do that already for two consoles (through yearly subs). I really am not going to just pay money over after BUYING the game for the price that would cost 3 months+ and only get a free game month sub. It is slightly annoying. I rather wait until they get rid of the Sub fee deal. Most likely see a huge boost if they do it. After all like to try it before I buy it. Then, think about subbing.
the only way for me to play is if it were free. nope. not. paying. ---> .
I've been excited to play this since I heard about it. I've been a long time Square fan but, was starting to feel a little let down when FF14 launched, and burned. Their performance wasn't too grand in any aspect around that time frame IMHO but I'm hoping that this is the first in a long line of great new things to come from Square.
