The lights are on
This might come a surprise to some, but apparently a lot people play Call of Duty.
According to a new infographic, Call of Duty players spend more than 16 million combined hours everyday playing the series. Players have also played 18 billion total matches, died and respawned 1.9 quadrillion times, and destroyed nearly $3.5 quadrillion worth of UAV drones in multiplayer.
Activision also recently released a live-action Call of Duty: Ghosts commercial that briefly features Megan Fox.

Take a look at the numbers below and click on the image to get a closer look. Call of Duty: Ghosts is out on November 5 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC. It will also be released for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 when the systems become available.
Our Take:The Call of Duty franchise has a habit of shocking us with its infographics. This one just adds to the overflowing amount of evidence that the series will not slow down any time soon. After prestiging twice in Black Ops, I understand the addictive quality of the Call of Duty multiplayer. But I still find these figures astounding and even a little sad. Just think of what could have been done with all that time.

I donate to charity, work for a non-profit, and volunteer often... But this still puts things into perspective of how much time I devote to gaming. I love entertainment media, don't get me wrong, but it just makes me think about what I could do if I rationed my time elsewhere.
That 1900 years breaks down to around 16,644,000 hours (or 16,655,400 including leap years), or about one hour per player that purchased the game at launch.
call a doodie can suck a long hard lemon.
I guess I should try COD again. I played it once at a friend's and wasn't all that interested. It appears I've missed something.
Diablo has something similar and more interesting. But either way, that's pretty cool information.
In 1900 years of real world time, we've developed mind boggling technologies, debated the philosophical existence of man, explored religious ideals, and put people on the moon.
In 1900 years of Call of Duty time, billions of people have been teabagged, and various spoken languages have been butchered to the point of being unrecognizable.
Colour me impressed.
Dang that's a lot of time!!
I can rest easy knowing I have contributed to absolutely none of this. That doesn't mean I bear any grudge against the people who waste their time on CoD. I've wasted plenty of my own time on other games, so I'm in no position to feel superior to CoD players. Just please don't go playing only CoD. You would be denying yourself too many great experiences.
