Battlefield 4 Second Assault Maps Confirmed, Available On Xbox One On November 22

by Mike Futter on Nov 04, 2013 at 12:55 PM

If you’re planning on playing Battlefield 4 on Xbox One, you’ll have four additional maps available at launch. The Second Assault map pack features four classic Battlefield maps reworked for the Frostbite 3 engine.

The four maps were revealed during the Xbox One Europe vs USA event last week. The four classic battlegrounds are Gulf of Oman from Battlefield 2, along with Caspian Border, Operation Metro, and Operation Firestorm from Battlefield 3.

All of the maps include new destructible elements that can dramatically alter the flow of combat. You’ll be able to see them for yourself on November 22, but if you’re interested in how the current generation versions play, check out our review.

Our Take
Operation Metro is a strange choice, as anyone who played the Battlefield 3 beta logged far too many hours on it before the game even hit shelves. I prefer the more open, classic Battlefield maps, as those let Battlefield differentiate itself from other titles in the genre.
