Update: We've Reached Our Extra Life 2013 Fundraising Goal!

by Tim Turi on Nov 03, 2013 at 03:10 AM

Update: Thanks to everyone who donated (which you can still do), watched, and played alongside us during our Extra Life 2013 25-hour gaming marathon. As of this writing we earned over $15,540 for Gillette Children's Specialty Care, part of the Children's Miracle Network. Overall Extra Life raised over $3.3 million, over $1 million more than last year. It was a ton of fun playing our favorite games, taking requests, and giving away over 100 prizes throughout the 25-hour event. A very sincere thanks from us here at Game Informer to everyone who participated. We'll see you next year for Extra Life 2014!

Original Story: The Extra Life 2013 livestream has begun! Win prizes, donate for a good cause, and watch us play games for 25 hours straight.

The action spans 9:00 am central Saturday, November 2 to 9:00 am central Sunday, November 3. We invite you to join Team Game Informer and play alongside to help raise money for Gillette Children's Specialty Care and other Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (for more info, read this or watch us talk more about it on the local news). You can also head to our donation page and pitch in there. Our $15,000 goal is within sight, and we'll raise the bar once we meet it so we can raise as much as possible. We'll also be giving away prizes throughout, including gifts courtesy of Irrational Games, Double Fine, Zen Studios, and more.

Game Informer staff including Ben Reeves, Jason Oestreicher, and myself are pushing through the entire 25-hours, but we've got others on board for help. Dan Ryckert, Kim Wallace, Ben Hanson, Joe Juba, Jeff Marchiafava, and more will also be swinging by to say hello and play some games. Extra Life's Jack Gardner, formerly a GI intern, is joining in on the fun. Zach Pligge, a dedicated GI community and Extra Life captain, is also along for the ride.

Our livestream marathons can get a little loopy, but this year we've got a method to the madness. Things are prone to be a bit dynamic, but below is a basic schedule we're going by.
