The lights are on
Update: Thanks to everyone who donated (which you can still do), watched, and played alongside us during our Extra Life 2013 25-hour gaming marathon. As of this writing we earned over $15,540 for Gillette Children's Specialty Care, part of the Children's Miracle Network. Overall Extra Life raised over $3.3 million, over $1 million more than last year. It was a ton of fun playing our favorite games, taking requests, and giving away over 100 prizes throughout the 25-hour event. A very sincere thanks from us here at Game Informer to everyone who participated. We'll see you next year for Extra Life 2014!
Original Story: The Extra Life 2013 livestream has begun! Win prizes, donate for a good cause, and watch us play games for 25 hours straight.
The action spans 9:00 am central Saturday, November 2 to 9:00 am central Sunday, November 3. We invite you to join Team Game Informer and play alongside to help raise money for Gillette Children's Specialty Care and other Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (for more info, read this or watch us talk more about it on the local news). You can also head to our donation page and pitch in there. Our $15,000 goal is within sight, and we'll raise the bar once we meet it so we can raise as much as possible. We'll also be giving away prizes throughout, including gifts courtesy of Irrational Games, Double Fine, Zen Studios, and more.
Game Informer staff including Ben Reeves, Jason Oestreicher, and myself are pushing through the entire 25-hours, but we've got others on board for help. Dan Ryckert, Kim Wallace, Ben Hanson, Joe Juba, Jeff Marchiafava, and more will also be swinging by to say hello and play some games. Extra Life's Jack Gardner, formerly a GI intern, is joining in on the fun. Zach Pligge, a dedicated GI community and Extra Life captain, is also along for the ride.
Our livestream marathons can get a little loopy, but this year we've got a method to the madness. Things are prone to be a bit dynamic, but below is a basic schedule we're going by.

Let the games begin! :) Hope you guys get a great haul this year.
roosterteeth and gameinformer unite! to make one epic livestream
Well don't mind if I do, I'll have this running while I play batman.
I wish I could participate in one of these. I think I would want to stick with open world single player games, just so there's always something to do. The hours just fly by with GTA V.
Crap! I totally spaced that out this year. Gosh dangit. The joys of college amirite? Now I have to wait till next year.
Been watching this all day. Absolutely love our community! It is the best gaming one out there. Lets raise money!!
An epic gaming event begins again; I hope everyone has a great time and is a success.
I started off watching Markiplier's livestream but after he called it quits eleven hours in, I switched over here.
You guys were great, it was a ton of fun watching the stream, prizes were fantastic, and everyone on the stream too enjoyed every moment. il definitely be back next year to watch again, and donate again. )
Good times. I always love your live streams and grats on the the 15k. Now get some well deserved rest.
Good job, everyone. I was there for around 18 hours
Gamers should spend more time supporting things like this and less time on which next gen console is "superior".
Congrats on raising over 15k for charity!
Congrats, guys! By the way, I remember watching an episode of Replay where Tim mentioned he wanted to compare Banjo Tooie with Super Mario 64. What was his final verdict on that front?
awesome! I was there for every hour of it, playing along with you guys. 12 hours of Assassins Creed 4, and the other 12.5 were pokemon x. It was nice seeing Dan try to beat Tyson live also, but ultimately ending up into a failure. Looking forward to next year's already haha.
I wasn't able to reach my goal of $200 :( still had a lot of fun though.
i wish i could of watched this live i was way to busy that few days to watch
Awesome!!! Congrats and I am proud to a member of the GI community. Doing good things for good charities is a great way to gain and keep my loyalty.
