The lights are on
It used to be that your choices for playing games were simple. Way back in the 1980s, I remember standing in front of a wall of box art with ticket slips underneath. Most of the time you were taking your chances and hoping your choice was fun.
Later on, movie rental chains started carrying games. Then the retail used market emerged.
Since then, Steam and rapid discounts on new retail copies have further complicated one of the most difficult questions facing gamers: When do I buy a game I want to play?
So, we’re asking you: Do you get most games at launch, or do you wait a little while? Maybe you dabble in both areas. We’d love to know how you approach your game acquisitions. (Please keep it legal, though.)

Well, I suppose if you're going to ask that question you should ask if people buy new consoles at launch. ;)
Why buy a brand new system and not get anything for it (paraphrasing).
Just depends on the game, if it's a anticipated game than I will usually get it at launch, but if it's a game that I'm curious about or just something that fell under my radar than I will usually wait on reviews. Also sometimes I'll just wait until it comes to PlayStation Plus.
If the game interests me then I'll pre-order it. Otherwise, I'll wait for reviews.
It depends on the game. I'll wait for it to go down in price if it's just a regular amazing game, but if it's a game from Bungie, or a reboot of a game that was amazing (like the new Thief game) then I'll defs pick it up at launch. However, if I plan to get a game on PC then I always wait for a Steam sale.
I buy Games and Consoles I really want at launch (if I have the funds to do so). But, if there is a game that looks cool but I'm not going crazy over, I'll pick it up later down the road when it's only like $20.
Simple question, if it's a game I dying to play then it's a day one purchase, if not I can wait. Although there are some games that hardly go down in price over time, for those it varies.
It all depends on the game. COD, Ni no kuni, Borderlands 2, and soon Ratchet and Clank: Into the Nexus, are all the games I bought day one.
I have an X1 day 1 edition pre ordered and I will buy NBA 2k14, battlefield 4 and ryse day 1 edition at launch.... and I think that it will be it for me until titanfall comes out.
Since I usually preorder games, I get them when they first come out. There are plenty, though, that I initially was skeptical about, but later on after seeing reviews or playing a demo I end picking up.
Dead rising 3 forza bf4 and maybe ryse at launch
I wait, I love games and being a gamer but i'd much rather wait I feel games are much to expensive to buy on launch day and that goes for consoles as well its not like if I don't get it the day it comes out ill never get it at all, the stores will be open and games and consoles will always be up in the shelves.
