by Mike Trinh on Oct 30, 2013 at 09:31 AM

Blockade Entertainment, one of the studios working on the Ratchet & Clank movie, revealed that it is also translating the story of Heavenly Sword into film. The film will feature voice work from Anna Torv ("Fringe"), Alfred Molina ("Spider-Man 2"), and Thomas Jane ("Punisher").

Heavenly Sword tells the story of Nariko (Torv) who is on a quest to avenge avenge the destruction of her clan at the hand of King Bohan (Molina). Nariko must use the Heavenly Sword to defeat Bohan's army before it completely drains her life.

The Heavenly Sword game, a PlayStation 3 exclusive developed by Ninja Theory, was released in 2007. The film will hit digital distribution and select theaters in Spring 2014. Check out the first trailer below.

Our Take:
I have never played Heavenly Sword, but this movie seems like a fun treat for fans of Ninja Theory's game. If Sony keeps this up, maybe one day we'll get an Infamous movie or the long-delayed Uncharted movie.
