Dark Souls II Beta Test Now Scheduled For November

by Mike Futter on Oct 29, 2013 at 03:18 AM

Over the weekend, Namco Bandai intended to conduct a network test, but unforeseen errors prevented that from happening. The company has now rescheduled and posted a code for anyone to download the client.

The upcoming network test on November 9 and 10 will take place overnight. You’ll want to have some caffeine handy, as the test starts at 11 pm Pacific on November 9 through 2 am Pacific on November 10.

If you aren’t yet in the test group, you can enter a PlayStation Network code (38QQ-8DNE-97AA) to download the client on a first come, first served basis. As of last night, Namco reported that there is still space. For more on Dark Souls II, check out our preview from TGS 2013.

Our Take
As a reminder, this is not a beta test in the traditional sense. This is a network test, intended to provide very specific data to the development team. As per previous statements, there is no tutorial. Players will be dropped into the game with little direction. In short, expect even less of a “gameplay” experience than the average beta. If you want to participate, know that your efforts are intended solely to improve the final product.
