Reader Discussion: Are You Waiting For New Hardware To Play Cross-Generation Titles?

by Mike Futter on Oct 28, 2013 at 04:34 AM

This week marks the first of the major (non-sports) cross-generation titles hitting current hardware. Battlefield 4 and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag both arrive tomorrow, and Call of Duty: Ghosts hits in just one week. So, we want to know if you'll be diving right in, or if you are holding out for the versions on next-gen hardware.

It's important to note that many of these titles will offer upgrade options. Madden 25, FIFA 14, and the three games mentioned above will all be available in shiny, new-gen flavor for just $10. How that will work on each console (and whether you've purchased retail or digital) varies. Additionally, many of these will allow users to carry over multiplayer progress to the new versions (but single-player activity will not).

So with that said, will you be jumping into one or more of these imminent releases on the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, or are you waiting for Xbox One or PlayStation 4? If you're diving in now, are you purchasing at retail, or are you going to take advantage of the digital upgrade program? Let us know in the comments.
