Know Which Xbox One Player Earned Achievements Thanks To Color Coding

by Mike Futter on Oct 23, 2013 at 02:40 AM

Microsoft took to Twitch yesterday to show off some Powerstar Golf gameplay. The title is more casual than something like EA's Tiger Woods offering, and it's worth taking a look at the footage. More interesting is that the achievements the players earn show off how that system has been upgraded for Xbox One.

As you probably know, when an achievement is earned on Xbox 360, only the circle of light quadrant indicates which player earned it. That can be hard to see in the thick of gameplay.

The Xbox One will not only color-code achievements, but the pop-ups have two phases. The first indicates which player earned it, and the second displays the achievement. Both are color coded.

You can see it for yourself at the 11:20 mark and then again at the 13:45 mark of the Twitch archive video. The Xbox One will be released in just under a month, on November 22, 2013. Powerstar Golf is one of the 23 Xbox One launch titles.

Our Take
This is another small convenience feature that shows an evolution of thought about the user experience. I don't often play co-op on the couch, but for the times that I do, it'll be nice to have this feature.
