The lights are on
Sega is providing a glimpse of its upcoming mobile-gaming roster, and Sonic is dependably pulling his share of the weight. New versions of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 are on the way, alongside two new titles.
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is coming to iOS and Android this winter with new features and tweaks, including Facebook integration that puts your friends' profile pics above their racers. The original was pretty darned good, so here's hoping Sega can successfully transition the game to mobile – especially considering the controls.
Next up is a remastered version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It's also coming to iOS and Android, but it's got a more specific release timeline of November. Sega says the game runs at a steady clip of 60 frames per second, and that fans will hear remastered audio while they play.
Rhythm Thief & the Paris Caper is a rhythm game (surprise!) where players step in the comfortable dance shoes of Raphael as he tries to discover why his dad disappeared in Paris. This one's coming to iOS devices in early 2014.
With Demon Tribe, Sega is clearly going after the hardcore set. The company says this iOS game combines elements of MOBA, card collecting, and action-RPG gaming. Players collect and train demons to battle in both online co-op and competitive battles, with up to 6 players playing in the 3 vs. 3 matches. It's due out this winter – whether that's this holiday or early next year is unknown.
