The Smoke Clears Around Infamous: Second Son Limited And Collector's Editions

by Mike Futter on Oct 17, 2013 at 05:22 AM

Sony has announced two different, upgraded versions of Infamous: Second Son. The limited edition is available to anyone that pre-orders, and the collector's edition gives you some physical and in-game goodies.

The limited edition comes with a foil game cover and a DLC pack for free. The content, Cole's Legacy, details what happens between the end of Infamous 2 and Second Son. Those that complete the story arc get access to Cole's jacket.

The collector's edition will include unique cover art, a replica of protagonist Delsin's beanie, eight pins that Delsin wears in game, a Department of Unified Protection (DUP) patch, vinyl decals, an in-game "legendary" vest, and the Cole's Legacy DLC.

Retailers list the collector's edition at $79.99. Infamous: Second Son is slated for a February 2014 PlayStation 4 release. For more on that game, check out our coverage from the June 2013 issue.

Our Take
As a fan of the Infamous series (they are the only two platinum trophies I have on PS3), I'm extremely excited for Second Son. I bought the Hero Edition of Infamous 2 and love the statuette of Cole and the sling bag that came with it.

I'm a little disappointed by this Collector's Edition, and while I applaud the inclusion of physical collectibles, it would be nice to put a Delsin figure next to Cole on my shelf. The limited edition offer, on the other hand, is a great value. If you're the least bit interested in Infamous: Second Son, the free DLC and slightly enhanced cover art might be worth the pre-order, as Sony suggests that the supplies will be limited.
