The lights are on
Update: We've received official word from Ubisoft. Watch Dogs is indeed delayed.
The link to the Ubisoft blog announcement is not working currently, but we've been informed by an Ubisoft representative that it is due to high traffic. The quote below is accurate.
What was shaping up to be one of the fall's most intriguing titles will now be one of the most intriguing titles of 2014.
According to a NeoGAF post, this was published on the official Ubisoft Blog (as of right now, the post appears to have been taken down):
"Following is a statement directly from the Watch_Dogs development teams.
Our ambition from the start with Watch_Dogs has been to deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming. It is with this in mind that we've made the tough decision to delay the release until Spring 2014.
We know a lot of you are probably wondering 'why now?' We struggled with whether we would delay the game. But from the beginning, we have adopted the attitude that we will not compromise on quality. As we got closer to release, as all the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place in our last push before completion, it became clear to us that we needed to take the extra time to polish and fine tune every detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you. We thoroughly enjoy and appreciate the way you respond on the web, at events, press conferences and during other opportunities we have to interact. Your passion is what drives us.
We can't wait to see you in Chicago next Spring. We are confident you'll love this game as much as we love working on it."
We have reached out to Ubisoft for official comment and will continue to report the facts as we learn more.

Our Take:While it's disappointing for those excited for Watch Dogs, I always applaud a publisher giving a development team the time it needs to perfect a game. Watch Dogs is an ambitious experience, and rushing out a substandard product wouldn't benefit anyone.

I was really looking forward to buying this as soon as it came out but I see why they want to delay it. As long as the wait is worth it, I won't complain.
So anyone know whats gonna happen with the PS4 Watch Dog bundle now??? Do we just get the PS4 then have Watch Dogs sent to us afterwards???
Wondering how this will affect PS4 Watchdog launch day bundles?
Not disappointed at all
if they need more time to perfect it by all means have it
sadness, this was the launch game i was looking forward to playing on xbox one the most :(
Delays are the best things ever. For one, they give my wallet some breathing room, for the time being at least. It also gives those devs some time to iron out the bugs, something Ubisoft never understood with the AC series.
Really bummed by this because I was looking forward to this being one of the first games I get on PS4. However, it gives me more time to pay off the Collector's Edition.
I was debating Watch Dogs or AC IV to pick up first at launch. This makes the decision easier.
Aw man, it would have been nice to have it at launch. But of course it is better to have the game polished than not.
This is extremely disappointing to hear. I understand they want to release an actual good game that functions properly, but the promise of playing this at launch now stripped away from us... It hurts. I was really looking forward to playing this game with my PS4 on November 15th and now I don't even think I'll be getting a PS4 at launch. I don't see a reason to. No other game peaks my interest enough to justify putting down 60 dollars. I just really really hope that Sony restocks stores sometime early next year. I really want to play Infamous Second Son or even Destiny's beta, whenever that turns out to be. Damn you Ubisoft!
It'll definitely be interesting to see if this affects the sales numbers of the PS4 and Xbox One. Aside from that, The extra time should be good for the developers; a game with Watch Dogs'scope will be more than a little difficult to pull off perfectly.
Well, sadly that's not too surprising with such an ambitious game. However, if it means more quality added to the finished product, then I can't be more pleased.
Although I am quite dissappointed, I applaud Ubisoft for recognozing it needed more time to perfect the game. Now I am questioning how soon I should jump into the next gen.
What does this mean for people who preordered the PS4 or Xbox One Bundle that came with Watch Dogs? Will they get refunded the cost of the game and still get their console on release date? Will they get the consoles now and just have to wait for the game? Will their consoles be delayed?
Ah man that sucks!! Eh, with the many other big releases coming out next month, I'm probably gonna be set till next year. I can't wait a few more months
