The lights are on
Update: We've received official word from Ubisoft. Watch Dogs is indeed delayed.
The link to the Ubisoft blog announcement is not working currently, but we've been informed by an Ubisoft representative that it is due to high traffic. The quote below is accurate.
What was shaping up to be one of the fall's most intriguing titles will now be one of the most intriguing titles of 2014.
According to a NeoGAF post, this was published on the official Ubisoft Blog (as of right now, the post appears to have been taken down):
"Following is a statement directly from the Watch_Dogs development teams.
Our ambition from the start with Watch_Dogs has been to deliver something that embodies what we wanted to see in the next-generation of gaming. It is with this in mind that we've made the tough decision to delay the release until Spring 2014.
We know a lot of you are probably wondering 'why now?' We struggled with whether we would delay the game. But from the beginning, we have adopted the attitude that we will not compromise on quality. As we got closer to release, as all the pieces of the puzzle were falling into place in our last push before completion, it became clear to us that we needed to take the extra time to polish and fine tune every detail so we can deliver a truly memorable and exceptional experience.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you. We thoroughly enjoy and appreciate the way you respond on the web, at events, press conferences and during other opportunities we have to interact. Your passion is what drives us.
We can't wait to see you in Chicago next Spring. We are confident you'll love this game as much as we love working on it."
We have reached out to Ubisoft for official comment and will continue to report the facts as we learn more.

Our Take:While it's disappointing for those excited for Watch Dogs, I always applaud a publisher giving a development team the time it needs to perfect a game. Watch Dogs is an ambitious experience, and rushing out a substandard product wouldn't benefit anyone.

I am really disappointed in the delay because now I have to find a launch game to replace Watchdogs but hopefully the delay will make the game much better and they can add more content just like when they delayed Rayman Legends.
This sucks. This was my most anticipated game for the Xbox One.
Oh no, what a disappointment. Now the wait is half a year longer. I'm still looking forward to it, but it's still quite a blow to my gaming plans for the rest of the year.
Well that sucks, but I'd rather wait longer and have an amazing game than have it rushed and play something not worth the money. I have confidence in Ubisoft.
Boo urns...I don't mind that the devs take the time they need, but I was really looking forward to this one at launch. A small disappointment, but I hope they polish that game to a gleaming shine.
