The lights are on
Sales of Wii U consoles have increased by 685 percent in Europe thanks to the success of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD.
Nintendo revealed the impressive sales numbers to MCV. Nintendo UK's head of consumer marketing James Honeywell said ,"We have long believed that software sells hardware and it's great to see that reaffirmed this week." When it released in Europe, Wind Waker HD debuted at number four behind Grand Theft Auto V, Fifa 14, and F1 2013.

Our TakeI'm happy to see the Wii U picking up some steam. I think it's a great system and I am still rooting for its success. I am curious to see how the game and accompanying console sales fared here in the United States.

That's pretty cool.
This is generally good, but I don't think it's a great in the long-term for the Wii U that a single game, however excellent, pushes it along so significantly. Then again, first party titles are pretty much what sells Nintendo consoles in the first place.
That's a terrific figure, but unfortunately I don't expect it to amount to much in terms of actual sales figures. Obviously Nintendo's a bit shy about coming up with anything outside of a percentage considering how poorly it performs anywhere in Europe. Still, a nice bit 'o news to hear before the holiday season heats up.
I really want this bundle. This is good news for Nintendo. Now they need to add more new big name titles to really get the system going.
This is what pushed me to finally buy a Wii U, glad to see this happening in Europe. I am enjoying the hell out of it.
