The lights are on
Sleeping Dogs was one of the most surprising games of 2012. Not only was it an enjoyable open world experience, but it came through development hell better than anyone expected. Now, United Front is hard at work on a follow-up.
All we know at this point is that it will be called Triad Wars. More information is coming in 2014. Be sure to check out our review of Sleeping Dogs.

Our TakeI'm excited that another Sleeping Dogs title is coming (despite Square Enix deeming the first a commercial failure). Wiser minds have prevailed, as Sleeping Dogs' 1.75 million sold units (as of April) were respectable for a new franchise only eight months old. I'm ready to revisit United Front Games' take on Hong Kong on next-gen consoles.
Let's just hope this isn't a mobile game.

Oh god yes. I was hoping they would make a sequel. I played Sleeping Dogs to satisfy my open-world hunger and found an amazing story with great gameplay.
The original game was a surprising hit with me. Got it free on PS+ last year and didn't give it a second thought until just a few months ago and loved it so much that I actually spent the time to get the platinum trophy for it! If they keep the base gameplay the same, a sequel could be another seller.
loved it and buying it
This was definitely a surprise game for me. I'm so glad they're going to make this a franchise, but a little worried about the "in the Sleeping Dogs Universe" pretty much meaning it won't be a direct sequel, but I could see spin-offs like GTA has (i.e. GTA San Andreas). I am also hoping Sleeping Dogs: Triad Wars isn't a mobile/Facebook game although the name sounds like one.
definately great news to see , specialy since sleeping dogs was my GOTY last yr
Heh, bet it's some Facebook game: "Sleeping Puppies," with heroin dealing doggies with AKs, lol.
If its not a cheap mobile game or an app of some kind but an actual legit spiritual or direct sequel or prequel i will happily play it.
Very awesome, I liked that game a lot. It also had fantastic PC support with high-res patches and all that. Loved it. I really want them to go less arcade for the cars though. If the cars handled a bit more like in GTA, it would've been amazing.
Loved the first game, really hoping for an honest sequel.
More Bruce Lee, Jet-Li, Donnie Yen fantasy fun? Yes, count me in!
I just hope they improve on the melee portion this time around by adding in even more moves and more cinematic take downs.
Yeah!!!! More chaos in the world of the Triads.
Hurray!!! Squeenix, don't you dare fail us now!
This is awesome. The last few missions of this game were some of the most epic gaming I've ever played. The story had me completely sucked in. I will buy a sequel day one.
Best news ever... after Square said the sales were disappointing, I figured they were done with this franchise.
Glad to see I was wrong, as I loved Sleeping Dogs. In fact, Sleeping Dogs was the Open World game I played while waiting for Saints Row IV and GTA V
Sleeping Dogs was fantastic! My favorite open-world game ever, GTAV included. This thing absolutely deserves a publisher that supports & nourishes it. So I'm thrilled to FINALLY hear news on this franchise!
However, everything here worries me. This IS Square-Enix after all. Especially with the generic name, "Triad Wars", it could be a new, proper entry... or a decent mobile production... or a cheap little social game. So I can't get excited for this until we hear more.
But I AM glad this thing ISN'T dead. Deus Ex, Sleeping Dogs, Hitman, Tomb Raider... these are successful franchises that should be supported & grown. Here's hoping that Thief follows suit. And also, Eidos resurrects at least one more series for this upcoming gen. Y'know, like a REAL Legacy of Kain sequel (screw Nosgoth). Or a new Fighting Force.
Ruffian Games (Crackdown 2) put together a pitch for a next gen Streets of Rage that Sega passed on - how hilarious would it be if Eidos picked that up and adopted it as a next gen Fighting Force instead? I mean, that would be so ironic, considering the original Fighting Force was created as a pitch to Sega for a Streets of Rage game they passed on.
Like many of the others I was surprised by how well done Sleeping Dogs was. It was thanks to the PSN+ that I decided to try this game out and it was pretty damn good. I am glad that Activision is no longer behind this franchise but I am not sure if Squeenix's grubby paws is a lesser evil or the same hell this game tried to climb its way out of....
For whats it worth there is a Digital bundle out on the PSN+ for 10 bucks. Definitely worth the price.
