The lights are on
Sleeping Dogs was one of the most surprising games of 2012. Not only was it an enjoyable open world experience, but it came through development hell better than anyone expected. Now, United Front is hard at work on a follow-up.
All we know at this point is that it will be called Triad Wars. More information is coming in 2014. Be sure to check out our review of Sleeping Dogs.

Our TakeI'm excited that another Sleeping Dogs title is coming (despite Square Enix deeming the first a commercial failure). Wiser minds have prevailed, as Sleeping Dogs' 1.75 million sold units (as of April) were respectable for a new franchise only eight months old. I'm ready to revisit United Front Games' take on Hong Kong on next-gen consoles.
Let's just hope this isn't a mobile game.

Great news! Loved Sleeping Dogs.
Awesome stuff. One of the best underrated games of last year.
I loved Sleeping Dogs and so I'm pleasantly surprised to read this!
SD has a great main story, interesting side missions and was just plain out fun when going off to play in the sandbox.
I'd be happy if they kept the game play intact as is and just gave us another story with even more fun and interesting side missions.
Sleeping Dogs, to me, was kind of like playing through a Bruce Lee movie.
Considering the first was a sleeper hit (no pun intended), this does not surprise me. It was one of my favorite games last year, thus I'm excited to see what's next for Wei Shen.
No matter what tho its only new by title. True crime fans kno wat I'm sayin. We kno why this game is poppin.
Yep, pretty excited!
That is really good news, it was a great first game and I can't wait to see where they go with the franchise.
I don't understand Square Enix deeming Sleeping Dogs a commercial failure apart from the obvious, it not taking in more than they expected, but for a new IP I think most would consider it a hit commercially and critically. It's a new IP and it had a fairly limited marketing campaign, I didn't get it until I read reviews and saw videos of it well after it launched. Wiser minds have prevailed, indeed.
The semantics of 'new title in the Sleeping Dogs universe' worry me. Sounds more like a mobile spin-off than a sequel. Hope I'm wrong as I loved the first game.
Yes, finally. But triad war? stupid name.
Square has ridiculously unrealistic sales expectations with their games. "Tomb Raider sold 5 million? Well we were hoping for 100 million so I guess we'll just have to put this franchise on ice for now."
Square Enix consider this a failure thanks to their inflated sales targets which werent met. This will be quite far removed from the original I think.
I'm excited for another sleeping dogs. The combat was terrific. The story was good. The city was also really interesting. It is no Los Santos but I think Sleeping Dogs could teach Rockstar a thing or two about satisfying combat.
One of my favorite games of 2012 and one of my favorite new IP to come out in a while. Didn't change the open-world GTA-type gameplay that much, but the Hong Kong cinema/John Woo influences made it something special. The hand to hand combat was stellar. Hopefully the next one has graphics that are up to date, but I'll take gameplay over graphics every day.
