The lights are on
Rockstar updated its support site this afternoon to let players know that it resolved instability issues that appeared in the PlayStation 3 version of the game this morning. The update also lets players know that Rockstar is investigating reports of lost characters, items, apartments, cars, progress, and in-game money. You can check out the full text of the update below.
We experienced some instability on PlayStation 3 around 11:00 AM ET
and service was restored at 12:30 PM ET. Another issue was seen on both
platforms just before 4:00 PM ET and was resolved shortly after. We
have not forgotten about players who reported (and who continue to
report) issues with lost characters, items, apartments, cars, or in-game
Our TakeI appreciate the efforts Rockstar is going through to make sure Grand Theft Auto Online is running smoothly, and I also appreciate the frequent updates being offered on Rockstar's website. I understand people's frustration over the game not working properly, but I get a genuine sense that Rockstar is doing everything they can to get it working.

they aren't lost... they were stolen. DUN DUN DUN!!!
I thought I was a lucky one since it worked all week for me. Unfortunately that just meant I lost a level 13 toon today when my character was deleted. Thanks a pant-load R*!
I haven't had anything disappear on my account, but some of my friends lost hundreds of thousands of dollars that they had been saving, not to mention their ranks. Hopefully they fix this.
Thank God I haven't had any problems. Been mostly a smooth ride for me.
glad this hasn't happened to me yet, but im going to watch my tongue, had a friend in my xbox party last night, and when he said that he lost his character within ten minutes. No matter how many characters people lose, they keep coming back to playing this. Its just to damn addicting lol
I tried once and it didn't work. So I'm going to stick to the SP game and wait until it's more smoothed out. I can't get a little bit upset at Rockstar over this, unlike other companies that waited days or weeks to respond about issues, Rockstar has been upfront BEFORE Online dropped. Suppose the only thing they could have done would be to delay the online game. Then people would complain about that too.
I hope they fix the campaign issues too. Since I got GTA Online I haven't been able to progress in the campaign.
I was progressing nicely but then when I started a mission it said I failed the mission right away, when I haven't even begun to play the mission. Let's hope R* gets this fixed sooner rather than later.
I lost my character logged in an hour later and he was back
