Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter Coming To 3DS In December

by Kyle Hilliard on Oct 05, 2013 at 09:19 AM

Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter, the applications necessary for moving Pokémon creatures from Black and White and its sequels to X and Y, is coming in December.

Both will be available on December 27. If you're unfamiliar, the Pokémon Bank is an online system that allows you to store all of your Pokémon online. The Poké Transporter is a free companion app to the paid Bank that allows you to transfer Pokémon to and from your games. There is a handy FAQ on the official Pokémon site that answers many of the questions surrounding the applications.

The Pokémon Bank will have a free month trial period. The option to download the free month trial will end on January 31, 2014. After that, in order to continue using the Bank, you will have to pay $4.99 a year.

You can head here to read our review of Pokémon X & Y here, which releases worldwide on October 12.

Our Take
I understand the necessity of requesting $4.99 a year in order to retain your bank, but I can't imagine many children (the predominant group playing Pokémon) will be able to convince parents to pay the fee. Hopefully, you can just download the trial, bring everyone you've got into X and Y, and not worry about the bank until the next core Pokémon game releases.
