The lights are on
In February 2012, we had the opportunity to talk with Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann about an abandoned reboot of Jak and Daxter. Today we finally get a look at some of the concept art the studio was working on.
The images come by way of Druckmann's recent IGDA talk captured by Toronto radio station AM640's Andy Borkowski. You can see the entirety of the talk on AM640's website.

Our TakeI appreciate Naughty Dog's reasons for abandoning the Jak & Daxter reboot. Druckmann and partner Bruce Straley were afraid their efforts were more marketing-driven than creatively inspired. The choice to move on and start fresh ultimately led them to The Last of Us. I think they made the right call.

I will never give up hope that we will see another Jak and Daxter game.
ok, i don't even like j&d and i feel like i would have loved this. dexter looks so cool. if it was realistic that would be so insane.
Kinda like the fuzzy look, maybe not the ultra realistic part though. Still, making The Last of Us was worth it. Maybe they can finally go back to the drawing board on this and make a next-gen Jak and Daxter. The PS4 sure needs the game diversity.
Ummmm, I wasn't excited about their work.
Interesting only saw PlayStation 2 jak good game.
Pretty draw Daxter
see i really want to get my hands on last of us but i really want a jak and daxter game again i really miss it
Ok, now that I've had time to think about it...I wouldn't mind seeing a more realistic version of Jak & Daxter. I wouldn't want them to lose the humor or the fantasy from the first titles, but staring at the Daxter concepts a little longer made me think about how a movie based on the franchise would look. As long as the right people are behind the game, I think a fresh reboot wouldn't be a bad idea.
I'm glad that ND worked on The Last Of Us instead.
This might have worked as a spinoff.
Not sure about this, but would enjoy another ND attempt at platforming.
I like the look of it, but you know most people wouldn't have.
Th art looks pretty cool, but not like a Jak and Daxter game!
Thank you for not doing this, if your heart just wasn't into it, then there's no reason to slaughter my childhood
Wow. Having never been a fan of Jak and Daxter, I would have passed on this game regardless. Instead, I got to play one of the best games I've ever played and my GOTY for 2013.
I think I speak for everyone when I say "PHEW".
glad they didnt
