The lights are on
During this morning's Direct presentation, Nintendo's president Satoru Iwata announced the unfortunate delay of Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.
Citing the need for a little bit more time to make the game better, Iwata said the game will be available in February 2014 exclusively on Wii U.
Our TakeAs excited as I am to play a new Donkey Kong Country game, I am not too heartbroken by its delay. There are a lot of good games still to come this year, and I feared Tropical Freeze was in danger of getting lost in the shuffle. I think by February, I will have more time to devote to the game.

This isn't a good thing for the Wii U. The Wii U desperately needs a ton of brand-new games to sell units and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze was supposed to help. For me, though, this is pretty good since I have a ton of games that i'm getting this year that will make me have even less time to play Tropical Freeze (especially from ACNL).
its fine with me
My wallet just breathed a sigh of relief. As much as I wanted the game, I'm going to have a hell of a time paying for Mario in 3D World, the PS4, AND two launch titles.
Crap. I was actually hoping for this one more so than most of the other holiday releases, certainly more so than the new Super Mario World. I'm also a little concerned that this will be detrimental to how well the Wii U does this holiday season. DKCR did pretty well on the Wii, and I was hoping TF would yield similar results...
I suppose time will tell.
This is good for people with multiple systems or already with a Wii U. This is not good, however, for people looking to buy a Wii U. Less games mean less reasons to own the console.
More time for Mario then.
Nintendo has so little to announce these days(making big deals announcing features of a game and characters of a game does not count no matter how much you want it to-not that we don't want to know along the way at some point) that they rush dates(to be fair everyone does this) and this game DK was rushed like usual hoping to have a nice holiday lineup and they choked. "Oh it's just one little 'ol game," you say. DK was the first Nintendo franchise to sell consoles and they need this good luck charm. It did well on the Wii in both sales and ratings. They needed it on shelves this holiday and they failed. They don't need more 3DS games for hell's sake. They need WiiU games and they need them now.
Damn. If there's one thing Nintendo can't afford it's the delay of games of their flagship franchises.
Kyle is on the mark. NO ONE should be sad by this after a year of complaining, "Where are the games, Nintendo!?!". Well, now at least, we know they'll have ONE title ready to go in February, after the Holiday rush. Nintendo needs to learn to space out their console releases better anyhow.
Besides, maybe now, Nintendo will pitch in and help market Sonic Lost Worlds the way it deserves this holiday season instead. Like how Nintendo sometimes markets 3rd party exclusives'? Like Dragon Quest IX, or Monster Hunter 3? Excellent Sonic games - excellent games, period - deserve some marketing love. I'm still pissed at how poorly Sony managed Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time release earlier this year. *grumble*. I do NOT want to see that kind of thing happen again.
I don't understand the point of the "Our Take" sections, especially this one. The writer directly contradicts himself by saying, "Satoru Iwata announced the unfortunate delay of...", then turning around and saying, "I am not too heartbroken by its delay." I know the main article is supposed to be factual information and the Our Take is opinion, but when opinion bleeds through both, then it loses purpose.
