Battlefield Beta Now Live For Select Players, Open Registration Coming Soon

by Matt Helgeson on Oct 01, 2013 at 10:22 AM

The much anticipated public beta of EA and DICE's Battlefield 4 is now online.

Right now, the beta is not open to everyone. To receive access you have meet one of three criteria: you bought the Battlefield 4 Deluxe Digital Edition, you are a Battlefield Premium member, or you are a registered owner of the Medal of Honor: Warfighter Limited Edition or Digital Deluxe Edition.

If you don't meet those requirements, you won't have long to wait. On this coming Thursday, October 4, the beta will be opened to all PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and PC players. For more information, go to the Battlefield 4 beta FAQ.

The beta will feature the Siege of Shanghai map and the Conquest and Domination modes. It will also show off the game's dynamically changing environments and "Battlepacks" (random packs of camos and dog tags you earn from multiplayer).

Like many cross-gen games coming out this fall, you'll be able to upgrade your PS3 or 360 version of Battlefield 4 for $9.99.

Our Take:
It will be interesting to see if Battlefield 4 can make a dent in the market dominance of Call of Duty this fall. This beta should be revealing; let's hope it lives up to the hype.
