The lights are on
We've heard from some readers that there are some issues with Grand Theft Auto V's garages. Apparently they have the occasional tendency to eat cars that players have upgraded. Rockstar has heard your laments and has born witness to the gnashing of your teeth.
The error typically presents after upgrading a car and then completing a mission. The company has acknowledged the glitch on its support site, but as of now has no workaround or fix to recover the missing vehicles.
Furthermore, Rockstar suggests that the problem may emerge after driving another character's personal vehicle (each of the three has them). A fix is currently being explored.
Additionally, it's important to recognize that safe house garages aren't magical. If you save a car in one, it won't likely show up in another.
You can subscribe to the support thread for information as it develops by signing into Rockstar's website with your Social Club ID.
Our TakeWith a game as big as Grand Theft Auto V, there were bound to be some glitches. Just ask the citizens of Fallout 3's Megaton how that stuff goes.
I hope this gets patched up quickly for those playing, but until then, be careful. Don't drive personal vehicles for other characters if you don't have to. It would be a shame if your sweet, tricked out ride disappeared.

damn, I was wondering why my car disappeared two days ago, well this solves it then. Mystery solved -.-
I guess that's what happened to my car that vanished.
I never upgrade my rides so I did not encounter this problem. Still, it sucks that it's happening. But for a game this size, it's impressive that it's the only glitch. Everything else is nearly perfect, except for the super slow submarine. It especially sucks because it doesn't have a radio in it either.
Yup, happened to me. Had a car i was going to fix up for racing and an awesome truck i tricked out and they disappeared. It seemed to only happen in the house garage.
Wait so people playing a game where they steal cars are upset that these very cars are being stolen back?
I would totally come out and say yea, we coded it that way intentionally.
This has happened to me twice already. I'm not going to upgrade my cars till this gets fixed.
this has already happened to me a few times actually, I think I just lost Michael's car and Franklin's car might have disappeared but i'm not entirely sure. I upgraded the crap out of both of these: bulletproof tires, blue wheel smoke, chrome, 100% armor....
I had it happen once, I had a modified Bravado Bison in Franklin's hilltop safehouse and it disappeared after a mission, but then it oddly reappeared a little while later, so maybe if you wait a little while the vehicles will come back, though I haven't been able to verify that that is the case.
This glitch has been driving me crazy! But there have been a few occasions when my disappeared cars ended up at the impound lot, even though they were stored in a safe-house garage.
Dang, curse you Mike! I wanted to point out the sheer, quirky irony of this headline myself! :(
easier explanation for Rockstar to give: "what? you think you're the only criminals in San Andreas?"
