The lights are on
After crushing the launch day sales record on Tuesday, Grand Theft Auto V has earned another significant milestone for publisher Take-Two. The title has crested $1 billion in worldwide retail sales in just three days.
This news is surely a relief to CEO Strauss Zelnick, whose company's success this year and beyond hinges on powerful sales of Grand Theft Auto V. "Grand Theft Auto is a cultural phenomenon and Rockstar Games continues to redefine what can be achieved in interactive entertainment," Zelnick says. "We are incredibly proud of the extraordinary critical and commercial response to Grand Theft Auto V."
Our TakeGrand Theft Auto has been keeping Take-Two afloat during the down times, as the series has an extremely long tail (the volume of sales over time following release). Not only does a new release spike revenues, but it also incentivizes gamers to investigate the back catalog (sometimes spurring purchases of already owned games on new platforms). GTA V will be even more significant should the title see staggered releases on PC and next-generation platforms (as I suspect it will). At this point, Call of Duty is going to have a nearly impossible time beating GTA's sales this year, ending a four-year streak.

Spectacular. This game deserves every penny.
when people say they dont care for gta5 i just shrug. whatever. some people obviously cant enjoy a well crafted video game unless its in the genre they like. personally i like rpgs and tbs games but if i play a masterpiece of any genre. you just know it when you start playing. gta5 10/10. can not wait to see DLC for this baby.
my only regret about gta5 is that i bought it as a disc. i should have downloaded it. my ps3 slim is one NOISY mo fo.
Does anybody else not care for how dark and over the top depressing this game is? I can't stand parts of it and really rather just play only Franklin's character in it. It's too bad though cuz there really are some awesome ideas and parts to it like, SOME, of the missions, the flying, parachuting, investing in properties, customizing cars, etc. But, I don't need the reality tv show that is Michaels family life and then I don't care to be Trevor, who is so psychoticly nuts and twisted that I want to kill him myself, in game, to rid Los Santos of the complete vermin that he is. This ones being finished quick and traded in which I don't usually do with AAA titles that I can play through again in an open world. I normally love open world games but there are too many issues with this one. Last thing, how in the heck did this game get only an M rating. It should be NC17.
Wow. Unbelievable. I wonder what the makers of CoD are saying.
