The Walking Dead Co-Writers, Mark Of The Ninja Designer Founding New Studio

by Mike Futter on Sep 19, 2013 at 07:50 AM

Sean Vanaman and Jake Rodkin, co-project leaders on Telltale Games' The Walking Dead, have announced they are forming a new studio. They are joined by Mark of the Ninja's Nels Anderson and artist Olly Moss. The quartet have named their new studio, Campo Santo.

Campo Santo's first (as yet unnamed) project will be backed by Panic Inc., a Mac and iOS utility designer (Coda, Status Board). Panic is also a design studio and will be collaborating on the project.

"It’s an unlikely partnership that means we get to conceive of, make, and distribute a video game the way we want to and the way we know how, with no per-prescribed set of rules or formula for how it’s done," the team writes. Campo Santo has a website and an introductory blog post at this time, promising more updates as its first project unfolds.

We had the opportunity to speak with Vanaman at E3, and in our discussion he confirmed that he wrote at least part of The Walking Dead Season 2. You can see that interview here.

Our Take
Telltale Games and Klei just lost some amazing talent. Add in the iconic artwork of Olly Moss, and you've got a recipe for something special. I'm eager to see what the team comes up and how Panic, Inc. fits into the picture.

Congratulations are in order for Vanaman, Rodkin, Anderson, and Moss.
