The lights are on
Soulcalibur is getting the free-to-play treatment with Lost Swords exclusively on PlayStation 3. The game had previously been announced for Japan and Europe, but now it has been conformed for North America.
The familiar characters and fighting mechanics return, with the addition of loot. Players will be able to forge and discover new weapons as they fight their way through opponents. New weapons will be dropped by enemies, as well as raw materials for creating new elemental-infused weapons. Combat success will be based on choosing the right weapon for the right battle.
The game will be available this winter, only on PlayStation 3. It's unclear exactly how the game will be monetized, but the presumption is that additional characters will be for sale, as well as the randomized loot.
Our TakeFree-to-play seems to be the new model for fighting games with the recent Tekken and the upcoming Killer Instinct. Of all the genres to fit the mold, it seems like fighting games might be the best. Players often focus on perfecting the combat of a single fighter, which serves a free-to-play game well when you don't necessarily want to spend a lot of money on it.

Probably end up like Tekken Revolution
Meh. I think I'll stick with Link on my Gamecube. I love SC, but I'm afraid the whole weapon forging idea isn't befitting of a game traditionally won by skill alone.
I am still waiting for a Soul Caliber 1 port that is not European and has online Mutilplayer. By far one of the best games for the Dreamcast and still the best game of the series imo anyway I would download that in a heart beat. Maybe I'll give this f2p a shot I mean its free why not no money spent if I do not like it.
ohh PSN message tekken free to play know next free fight see soulcalibur.
i'll check it out, even though i suck at SC...
i think this fp2 options are great for alot of people that are strapped on cash.
Hopefully better than SCV. When you take out the defining element of a fighter it just blends in with the others. I reallllllly hope they bring back useful Guard Impacts and the A+K moves. I am looking forward to this, but I also doubt I will be able to play it right away because the characters will most likely be all the characters I loathe like Siegfried, Nightmare, Mitsurugi, Kilik/Xiba, and Sophitia/Pyrrha. I really hope Amy, Voldo, Yoshimitsu, Algol, Zasalamel and Talim are present, though I doubt it for most of them.
bleh old news is old old but still excited for it
Y U NO XBOX!!!!
Gotta say, if this ends up like their previous FTP game, I'm all for it. There's something very nostalgic about coming back to Tekken Revolution every now and then with an allowance of sorts.
Seems like this one will have some kind of Rock Paper Scissor element to it.
