Fullbright Company's Gone Home Sales Top 50,000

One of the year's most critically praised indie games is selling well. In a blog post on developer The Fullbright Company's website, co-founder Steve Gaynor wrote, "We’re happy to announce that between Steam and our own website Gone Home has sold more than 50,000 copies since launchWe’re now almost a month out since launching on August 15, and we hope people will find it encouraging to know that, along with the positive critical response we are continually grateful for and humbled by, we are also doing alright as far as sales numbers go!"

That's great news, as Gone Home is definitely one of the really unique gaming experiences to release in 2013. For more, read Kim Wallace's review of the game. Even better is the tease Gaynor left of "more exciting news" – which hopefully means a new Fullbright project to be announced soon.

Our Take:
The last few years have seen an explosion of independent game development and, as in the indie music and film movements, some of these new creators have been giving fans a clear alternative to the offerings of the mainstream industry. It's good to see that a game as resolutely uncommercial as Gone Home can post 50,000 in sales in only a month's time.
