River City Ransom: Underground Turns To Kickstarter
The River City Ransom franchise is getting a new entry – granted it can get enough support on Kickstarter.
Developer Conatus Creative is seeking funding to create a new licensed River City Ransom game. If the game makes it to the funding finish line, it will retain the 8-bit art style of the originals, add new playable characters, and four-player co-op.
Right now, the Kickstarter campaign is only promising a PC releases, but as is the case with most Kickstarter projects, the sky is the limit. With 28 days to go, River City Ransom: Underground currently has $24,994 pledged towards its $180,000 goal.

Our Take
So far, it seems like the most successful Kickstarter campaigns – the video game ones anyway – are sequels or remakes of established franchises. It makes sense. There is already a fan-base and players already know what to expect. It's the same reason sequels are so popular outside of Kickstarter. In this regard, River City Ransom looks like it has a good chance of making it.
