The lights are on
This morning, Activision and Gamestop (disclosure: GameStop is Game Informer's parent company) announced that Call of Duty: Ghosts is on track to be the most pre-ordered game of 2013. The latest installment of Infinity Ward's contribution to the franchise is due out on November 5, 2013.
Activision also announced a discount offer for Eminem's upcoming The Marshall Mathers LP 2, also arriving on November 5, 2013. Those that pre-order and purchase Call of Duty: Ghosts at GameStop will receive a code at pickup that makes available the new album (including an exclusive track) for $8.99.
Our TakeCall of Duty continues to be an enormous franchise, and I have no doubt that the the special offers related to next-generation upgrades are helping. I can imagine that there are people who have pre-ordered both the current-generation and next-generation versions and will trade in the former and obtain the latter for about $10. This counts as two pre-orders, and it will register as two sales when NPD time comes around.
Others are offering similar upgrade plans. Sony will allow digital PS3 title purchasers to spend $10 more to get the PS4 version. Other retailers are starting to initiate their own plans, too.

I have ZERO interest in Eminem, give us something game related. But I feel as time moves on and games get bigger, we will be getting coupons for non-gaming related items.

Not really surprised.
Sheesh, guys, it's one game out of hundreds, I know it's really cool and trendy to bag on COD but I think you'll all survive it's release. Sports games have been essentially releasing minor updates to the same game for 20 years now and the industry hasn't imploded...you'll all be ok.
I didn't think anything would touch the GTAV preorder numbers.
I wonder if that's current numbers, or just pre-orders since availability. I preordered 2 copies of Ghosts as a place holder for a PS4 and when it became available, I cancelled both and moved the money over to the PS4. I know that the GameStop I go to was routinely doing this for people who wanted to get a next gen console right away. Probably won't make much difference either way, I suppose. It's COD after all...
Haha! I bet this news is slowly burning the souls of the over vocal, internet trolling, COD haters worldwide! The game that nerds love to hate is still negating all of the hours of hate spent by cyber trolling nerds who bash this game online at every opportunity. I love it! I don't know what's funnier COD breaking more sales records or when the Xbox one outsells the PS4 3:1 over the next year and PlayStation Stan boys get their heartbroken despite having the system of their preference. Haha!
im one of them. i love the serie crazy cinematic solo mode and fun multi
