Respawn: Beware of Titanfall Beta Scams

by Matt Helgeson on Sep 06, 2013 at 05:16 AM

Respawn's Titanfall has garner a lot of buzz since its unveiling in the pages of Game Informer. Online scammers have taken note, and are now using the promise of Titanfall beta invitations in phishing scams.

Respawn wants to get word out to gamers, and recently sent this tweet from the official Titanfall Twitter account: "To help keep our fans safe from scammers, please note that all sites advertising Beta access are 100% scams. #BePCSafe #Titanfall."

If and when there is a public beta, Respawn will announce it through official channels - and we will report on it. So, for now, if any website is asking you for "registration" information, click away as fast as you can.

Our Take:
It's a sad statement, but it pays to be skeptical online. Kudos to Respawn for helping to get the word out about these scams. Oddly, it's also a bit of a compliment for Titanfall -- these scams speak to the genuine enthusiasm people have for the game.
