Dark Souls II Beta Pushed Back

by Matthew Kato on Sep 05, 2013 at 04:55 AM

Last month Dark Souls II publisher Namco Bandai announced a closed beta for the game in October. That date has been pushed back a week, but the company has also added a second closed beta for the title.

The first closed beta starts on October 12 for PlayStation 3, with a second one to follow on October 27. There's no word whether betas will be held for the PC and Xbox 360 versions of the game.

To participate, prospective players must first download the free beta ticket through the PSN store. At the time of this writing, only the ticket through the European PSN store was accessible.

Dark Souls II comes out in March 2014. For more on the game, take a look at this clip of director Yui Tanimura talk about what is and is not changing in the title.

Our Take:
Betas are usually synonymous with MMOs and the multiplayer components of first-person shooters, but it's cool to see a game outside of those conventions stress test itself for the fans' benefit. Lord knows that games of all stripes could use such due diligence.
