The Legend Of Zelda Now Available On Wii U Virtual Console

by Kyle Hilliard on Aug 31, 2013 at 05:41 AM

The original Legend of Zelda, the one that started all of Link's assorted adventures, is available now on the Wii U's Virtual Console.

The game is $4.99 to download, unless you own the Wii Virtual Console version of the game, in which case it will cost you a dollar to upgrade. As is the case with all Wii U Virtual Console games, you can play the game on the television, or exclusively on the GamePad.

If the prospect of playing the original Zelda yourself seems to daunting, you can always check out our Super Replay of the game.

Our Take
I am happy to see these Virtual Console games re-releasing on Wii U, and I don't mind paying a little bit to upgrade, but I do wish Nintendo would release these games a little faster. I can't help but feel like Nintendo is intentionally limiting availability of these titles in order to celebrate each release, while us consumers are just snapping our fingers saying, "Hurry up!"
