Plants Vs. Zombies 2 Hits Nearly 25 Million Downloads, PopCap Releases Celebratory Infographic

by Kyle Hilliard on Aug 31, 2013 at 09:42 AM

Plants vs. Zombies 2, the currently iOS exclusive free-to-play sequel to Plants vs. Zombies, has already been downloaded nearly 25 million times.

According to PopCap the game has already exceeded the downloads of the original game. It's unclear if this is comparing just downloads of the iOS version of the first Plants vs. Zombies, or all digital versions including Xbox Live Arcade, PC, etc.

PopCap released an infographic with some more statistics for Plants vs. Zombies 2, which you can check out below, or here.

Our Take
I'm not sure if this metric necessarily qualifies Plants vs. Zombies 2 as a huge success dwarfing the original. The game is obviously doing well, but it is free. I have a copy downloaded myself, but admittedly haven't even started playing it. I'd be more curious to know a comparison of monetary sales between Plants vs. Zombies and the sequel. In any case, 25 million downloads is nothing to scoff at. It's very impressive.
