The lights are on
Earlier this week, we reported on a convenient PlayStation 4 feature that allows gamers to download games to their consoles from their smartphones (the console turns on to download it, then goes back to sleep). Today, Xbox exec Marc Whitten confirmed the same functionality via his Twitter account.
You can see the Twitter conversation that confirms the feature below:
Our Take:Having this feature on both of this year's new consoles is fantastic. It's nice to know that little hassles like game updates are a problem that will stay in the past. Downloading games is huge as well, as it's frustrating for gamers to get home from work or school on a game's release day, only to have to wait for a lengthy download. Being able to get the legwork out of the way from your phone guarantees that we'll be spending more time gaming and less time waiting in the future.

awesome feature. some download times are just unbearable. this is very convenient.
Expected as much. Even moreso than current, with next-gen the only thing separating the consoles will be personal preferences for the games.
awesome that was obviously coming regardless though im not surprised but happy as hell they added it.
Cool. I really love using this feature on Steam. Super convenient. Bout time though
I want to play my 360,PS3,Arcade,Indie and etc games on Next Gen so whatever console has that then that's the Next Gen console I'll be getting... or whatever Console release another Berserk(Manga) game :D!!
good stuff , but they should try to keep somethings secret about the console. because it seems like a copy console war. usually sony would have a some cutting edge component that would give them advantage. but oh well.
they will be similar so its just like last gen. it all comes down to preference.
I will be picking an xbox one. and its good to know they will be bringing back the option of digital releases.
Cool. But this really doesn't surprise me, I can already do this with my 360.
Good to know! I'm glad to hear there are less hurdles to jump to have awesome content conveniently waiting for me at home!
Wow that's really interesting...What I think I, and everyone else, want is someone to confirm a release date!
Nice let the good times role making me feel good about my pres order everyday
It seems that the One and the PS4 are getting more and more similar as the clock counts down.
Although I don't think MS touted this feature as much as Sony, this is not really surprising considering how identical the systems are getting prior to launch. Considering that the one is a triple OS running multitasking media center, this is something that one would take for granted at this point.
I think this is a sweet feature. Its the small things that make these big gaming systems better. Go Xbox One!
I think it's a pretty standard feature to have now.
