Marc Whitten Confirms Remote Downloads For Xbox One

by Dan Ryckert on Aug 30, 2013 at 06:55 AM

Earlier this week, we reported on a convenient PlayStation 4 feature that allows gamers to download games to their consoles from their smartphones (the console turns on to download it, then goes back to sleep). Today, Xbox exec Marc Whitten confirmed the same functionality via his Twitter account.

You can see the Twitter conversation that confirms the feature below:

Our Take:
Having this feature on both of this year's new consoles is fantastic. It's nice to know that little hassles like game updates are a problem that will stay in the past. Downloading games is huge as well, as it's frustrating for gamers to get home from work or school on a game's release day, only to have to wait for a lengthy download. Being able to get the legwork out of the way from your phone guarantees that we'll be spending more time gaming and less time waiting in the future.
