The lights are on
Nintendo has announced a price drop for the Deluxe version of the Wii U starting next month.
The Deluxe version of the system – the black 32GB console – will retail for $299.99 starting on September 20.
As competitors Sony and Microsoft get set to release their next-generation consoles this holiday season, the Wii U price drop puts it closer in line to the PS3 and Xbox 360. However, both systems offer versions at cheaper or equivalent prices – including a PS3/Grand Theft Auto V bundle for $299.
Our Take:The industry has begged for a Wii U price drop, and this is a good first step to helping the system gain more traction. I think, however, that even more important than price or software, the public has not bought into the console on a fundamental, conceptual level.

People ask for price Nintendo does it and people still b*tch about things. Is there no end to this?
Good, but i am getting PS4 and XBOne(at some point), I can use those $300 bucks for games. Thanks anyway.
I'm very glad to hear the Wii U is getting a price drop. Now I'll be able to get one soon than expected. I am sad that I still won't have enough money do get one by the time the Legend of Zelda bundle releases though.
Great. Now I can get Wii U to play X at cheaper price.
Yeah, not surprising at all, I knew it would happen shortly before the PS4/Xbone launches.
I saw no problem with the initial price of the unit, but it is certainly a smart move for Nintendo to do this. Between this and the upcoming game lineup, I can see this thing bouncing back a bit.
I would like for it to decrease in price a bit more. If it did that, and got some awesome games like Game and Wario for it, then I'll buy it. I'm nearing the purchase, though. I'm team Nintendo this generation. Last one I was Microsoft, the time before that Nintendo, the time before that Nintendo, and the time before that Sega.
Who did not see this coming? I knew when Sony and MS announced new systems it was just a matter of time. I figured it would be a little later, but I guess they want to try to get a jump on Sony and MS. Seeing as how the Zelda bundle was just announced, I am jumping on that.
Well looks like I'm getting a Wii U and a PS4 both....
I wonder if anyone thought to ask them if they are doing an ambassador program similar to the 3ds for all of us whoe bought it at launch and have been suffering thought the game drought.
