Level-5 Talks Sales For Layton & Ni No Kuni

by Matthew Kato on Aug 28, 2013 at 04:44 AM

Japanese publisher/developer Level-5 pulled back the curtain a little at its Vision press conference, announcing sales for the Professor Layton series and RPG Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch.

Not surprisingly, the Layton series has sold very well through its multiple trilogies – to the tune of 15 million worldwide. Ni No Kuni (above), meanwhile, sold 1.4 million units across the globe; including the Japan-only DS version. Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy and Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney are already out in Japan and are slated for North American releases in 2014.

Recently, Level-5 announced it is working on an iOS, Android, and 3DS puzzle/PRG offshoot called Layton 7.

Our Take
Privately held and independent publisher/developers like Level-5 are rare these days, and it's nice to see it has the luxury of directly speaking to its audience and prospective partners via events like this. The resultant info is nice as well. More importantly, these sales numbers show that the company is healthy; ensuring more games in the future.
