The lights are on
This is not a joke, nor is it a typographical error. Nintendo has announced a new handheld that strips the 3D out of its popular 3DS device. The Nintendo 2DS is a real thing, and the form factor is different than its brethren.
The 2DS is a slate-like device that doesn't fold. The target of the lower price point device are youths, and the 2DS is described as an "entry-level" portable.
It will retail for $129.99 and come in red and blue. It will be available on October 12, 2013, which is the same day as Pokémon X and Y. It will play all DS and 3DS titles.
Our TakeThe form factor on the 2DS is very odd. My children both have Nintendo portables, and I love that they can fold up to protect the screens. These will be harder to care for, and the screens will likely suffer more damage faster without the benefit of a clamshell.
There's a market for a device without the 3D function (which can be fully turned off on the 3DS) at a lower price point, but the design on this seems off. The release timing (alongside Pokémon) is masterful, but not being able to easily transport it might make the 2DS stumble at the cash register.

i'm ok with this it it means more ppl will play the games cause its cheaper or they skipped it before cause they don't wanna pay for 3d cause their eyes ( not that you couldn't turn it off) .. i'm not loving the design cause that weird slant going on , but even without it being clam-shell i'd get it if i didn't already own a 3ds just cause it looks a bit thicker since my 3ds/ds lite cramp my hands cause its so skinny.
I really don't know what to think of this device. I don't like the look or the layout of it, but at that price it will probably sell well.
Well because my screen is craked I sadly will problly get this
This is going to confuse a lot of casual fans. Some will think it's a new handheld and that it doesn't play 3DS games.
That is one of the most awkward things I have ever seen.
All you can really do is laugh at the design...or really lack there of.
