Time Warner Cable Comes To Xbox 360

by Mike Futter on Aug 27, 2013 at 02:56 PM

Microsoft and Time Warner Cable announced today that mutual customers can now access over 300 channels of live television through the new dashboard app. Time Warner joins over 130 other applications on Xbox 360.

In order to access the content, you'll need to be both an Xbox Live Gold member and a Time Warner subscriber. Once you authenticate your cable service, you'll have access to HBO, MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, AMC, and more.

According to Microsoft, the Time Warner app offers more channels than any other television partnership. It can be downloaded via the Xbox 360 dashboard.

Our Take
I have Verizon FiOS service, and the live television app has been available for a number of months. I used it once, and abandoned it after seeing how limiting the selection was. Time Warner seems to have a better slate of offerings.

Time Warner customers don't need the Xbox 360 to get live television, but those that are enamored of the Kinect features might want to give it a try.
